I am an adult who has played the flute for years. I want to buy a used piccolo and learn the piccolo. I am l debating between two and would greatly appreciate any input. Gemeinhardt 4SH w solid silver headjoint or Emerson ELD Silver plated head and body. Also asking is $250 on the Gem, is this good for used; pads and springs are good?

I have a Gemeinhardt 4S and it's not a bad instrument. I actually play a pearl rather than the Gemeinhardt, but if I go back and pick it up to compare the two it doesn't do too badly. The trouble is that until you've played it for a while, you won't really know what kind of embouchure will suit you on the pic.

I can't comment on the Emmerson, I've never tried one.
