I have been considering a new foot joint for my Jupiter flute for a while now, and finally now have the chance to get one. Problem is I can't find anywhere near me (or anywhere at all that's within driving distance) that stocks separate foot joints.
In fact I can't even find prices online. Does anybody have a clue of the general price range, and any info about the fit of foot joints, as I will probably have to purchase over the net. I can't afford, nor do I not want a new flute.
I am really at a loss about it.

If you contact a Jupiter dealer ( which you can look up online)they should be able to give you the price of a replacement footjoint for your flute as well as the wall thickness of your body. That should help you determine whether the foot you are looking at will fit your flute and if the price is good. There are several tapes that flute players use to seal the joints if there is a small gap. The Galway Flute Group Chatroom on Yahoo discusses them.

I'm assuming you have found someone selling a footjoint and you want to buy it. If you are just ordering one from a dealer, there shouldn't be any problem and it probable won't be in stock but will be ordered from the factory.

Thanks! Havn't found any yet, but a place about 2/3 hours away have said they could order one in for me. I am going to drop into the shop hopefully in the next few weeks and try some of the footjoints of other Jupiter flutes.
Tis a pain but I guess there is no other way around it!

Why do you want a new foot joint? Usually people upgrade the head. Just interested.

I am playing a c foot at the moment and would like to upgrade to a b foot. I know it's not usual practice to upgrade the foot but I love my head joint. The cut and tone are beautiful and the next step up for me would be to go to gold, and right now I don't particularly need/want to change it.
