Ok, so All-State chromatic scale for my state goes from low C all the way to the highest C on the flute, and I am having trouble hitting the highest note consistently. Does anyone have any tips on how to reach this note? Any exercises? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

First, make sure you are fingering it correct:
1234/1 (no thumb, no pinky...unless you have a gizmo key, then you can add it)

Second, make sure you are supporting by engaging your ab muscles and keeping rolled out some (many people roll in a lot on high notes, you have to blow across the hole. If you roll in you are blowing down).

As far as technique goes, I would practice high F up to high C and then high C down to high F. This is where most students have technique problems. Use these 8 notes up and 8 notes down and use the scale game http://www.larrykrantz.com/graphics/pgartic.pdf This works great to clean things up.

Please do not try to "hit" the high C. Reach for it firmly but gently. It does not like to be "hit."

When practicing the chromatic (the notes isn't my problem, my fingers just get sloppy) my favorite thing to do was to play the top 6 notes and two triplets so it be like G A B C B A G in triplets, over and over and over with different rhythms, different articulations etc etc. Then just play the top whole octave over and over different rhythms etc. And for scales in general do not just always play tongue up slur down. Slur up tongue down, slur two tongue two etc

I also find it easier to play a high note when I learn the note above it. Even if you can't get it to come out trying a higher note will make C come out better.

The fingering I use for really high Db is 1234/123 plus the gizmo key if you have one. Otherwise I think use the low C and C# key..
