if quality control allows it through then thay must not have a very high standard judgeing on that crown.

oviously you will be bias due to your position. this is just my own opinion based on the crown. one would think that it would be inspected more closely considering it's out of the norm and stands out from the rest. and oviously would have been used as a selling point.

If i may add my thoughts..

Kate's crowns i would be happy to add to the end of my flute, but this pearl one!! maybe as Micron said, if it was cut in half then added to the crown,, maybe!! but i for one don't like it as it is, but then each to their own i guess..

Like I said you are entitled to your opinion. Making the leap from a crown to the whole flute is what I have an issue with. The pearl setting and engraving are sent out to a local engraver and then a jeweler for those tasks. That part is not done by Pearl craftsman in the factory. I can understand you making a comment about the engraver or the jeweler, but like I said, disparaging the whole company based on that sample was way over the line.

Maybe you should go to Japan to teach engraving

I'm more interested in making the flutes play great.

Anybody thought that a pearl could fit a Pearl flute better than other gems? At least in the imagination of their marketing Dpt...

Oh Lord! I get the idea that Pearl put a pearl on a headjoint, but that is just ridiculous! And those other crowns that Suzie put a link to? Like someone else said, they wouldn't even fit in the case! Accidentally knock the end of your flute into your music stand and it is a goner! At least McKenna and Fluteragious have modest crowns where the whole dang thing isn't sticking out like an eye swore! If some people order them and want them that way then so be it. But just be prepared for people to have an opinion on it like everything else. I could see a little white pearl being set more into the crown.

Think of people who wear pearls. Gaudy BIG suckers. This is for them. Nothing less then a fullsize whole pearl.
