Pyrioni, I use to own a NRS-1 headjoint. It was introduced to me by a very good teacher in NY who played on a gold Sankyo. I tried his and really liked it on my flute, so decided to get one. I know what you mean, when it comes to the third octave. They are nice headjoints. I ended up selling it though because on the Powell that I had it on at the time, it messed with the tuning for me. Because of the wave part on the lip plate, I kept on wanting to roll it in and would play flat. I couldn't adjust to the shape of the lip plate

To the original poster: If the mechanism doesn't matter too much to you and you are comfortable with your headjoint, then you may just be happy with a student made body flute to save money.

Hey =) I currently play a silver Yamaha, but I'm upgrading to a Powell 9k Aurumite Conservatory in a couple months. I have tried Sonare's, and their mechanisms are really not that great. My Yamaha has lasted me six years including a year at a big university in the flute studio!
