Anybody here having a Yamaha YFL211 in good condition and willing to sell it?

PM me if you are interested. If in USA, I can have it shipped within USA, but only during the coming 30 days or so.

J-L,
Make sure that you don't get a fake Yamaha 211 from China. These are all over eBay. I think you are smart enough not to buy one from eBay, but there might be someone who got a lemon and wants to pass it on.

Here is what appears to be a real Yamaha 211 on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Yamaha-Flute-211-Silver-Beginner-EXCELLENT-Condition-NR_W0QQitemZ230444362689QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Woodwind_Instruments?hash=item35a78debc1
note the shipping costs are reasonable, and returns are accepted

Here's one of the probable fakes:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2010-New-Music-Instrument-Flute-YAMAHA-211_W0QQitemZ260563129151QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBrass_Instruments?hash=item3caac5d33f
Note that it is very inexpensive ($20), but shipping is $135.
It is returnable, but you would have to pay for shipping both ways. Also, you have 14 days from purchase to return it (to get your $20 back) but the shipping information shows that the flute takes 15 to 30 days to ship to you.

Yes indeed, thanks. I am aware of the risks. The first links to a company or person that has been offering several flutes, always used items with more or less degraded appearance. They usually finish the auction at rather high prices. I will keep that one in view, just in case the price stays interesting.

The other link is clearly a fake, no doubt about it. It does not even show the Yamaha logo on the HJ, though anyway this would be no warranty at all. I believe it is simply impossible to buy in Ebay a new YFL211 in China, and I would say that anywhere in the world.

Another suspicious flute is the one being offered right now, from seller in my own country. In fact, this is the instrument I won in a recent auction but the vendor then changed all the conditions (terms of payment, where the instrument was located, etc.) We agreed to cancel the operation and it was OK (but frustrating) and I would never risk any business with him again.

Thanks Susie.

This YFL311 has a solid silver CY HJ that most probably I will not use. I already have a spare solid silver EC from my YFL674 after I purchased the Nagahara HJ.

To bring along on holidays, I would rather have a standard CY as in the YFL211.

Also, the price is very good but still it is a little over my intended budget. I have not totally discarded it, however.

Jose, if you you want a Yamaha 211 for any cheaper that $200 it most certainly is going to need work which would cost you even more money. You are asking the impossible. Unless that is you don't mind playing a flute that needs work. If you want $100 flute, look for a Bundy. Even still then, it would probably need work.

<Added>

Oh and I have never seen a Bundy with a split E and I know you have to have that. So that throw that option out the window. Of course there is always those colored flutes on ebay with split E's for around that price. lol! (Not that I EVER recommend one!)

I am not looking for a YFL211 under 200$. I would like it to be under 300$.

Kate, I did not understand your last post until I checked your announcement again. You had lowered the price and I PMd you that I agree to buy it. So please reserve it for me and provide the instructions for payment as per my PM.

Thanks

I paid $400 for my Pearl 501E a few years ago. It was bought and used in beginning band for a few months before its owner gave up. It had a complete going-over by an excellent local tech, and the work was guaranteed.
I could have bought a cheaper flute, but would likely have spent more money getting it into good playing condition.
Sometimes that extra 20 or 30 percent on price from a local shop/technician saves you a bunch in the long run.

J-L, I hope you enjoy your new backup flute. I just had to play my backup flute in a concert, and it is very nice to be able to swap headjoints.

My intent of purchase failed.

So I am still looking for one to buy.
