I have a Yamaha 684 flute that I love. But today I noticed a teeny-tiny cosmetic issue. Where the headjoint goes into the flute, a little piece of plating seems to be bent. It is hard to describe so I took a picture which sums it up well:

Do any of you all know of anything a repairman could do to disguise it?

Plating will sometimes begin to separate and peel away from the base metal which is what you are seeing. Find a shop that is equipped to do spot or brush plating. The area can be carefully/lightly filed with a jeweler's file and sanded to remove the flaking plating, then buffed lightly to polish the area and blend it with the undamaged area. The area must be cleaned to remove any oil or buffing residue. Then, the area can be re-plated using a brush plating kit to reapply fresh silver.
