Today I auditioned for a youth orchestra in my area, and am worried I will not get in. With several audition dates,this was the last one, and the only instruments I saw were a tuba, piano, and oboe.I think I did pretty good, but I'm not sure what the competition is like. Does anybody know how many flutes a youth orchestra takes in comparision to the professional level?

Yes, usually 4-6, because unlike professionals, we need to go to schools and ECA and exams, so youth orchs need backups, also youth players are not as loud as professionals. I went to Japan south news TV youth orch this summer, they have 7-9 because their orch setting is really really big.

Good news... I'm accepted. The first meeting is next week, but I'm still not sure about the other flutes.
