What are your favourite pieces to play on the flute?

My favorite is the Hindemith Sonata, but now I`m working on a new piece I`ve never really heard called "Oiseaux Tendres" by Jean Rivier. Let me know if you know anything about it. It`s really neat.

I love playing Sugar Plum Faries from the Nutcracker! The flutes get the best part!

Mine is probably an Irish slip-jig called The Strayaway Child. In fact, one of the reasons I went out of my way to accquire a flute with a Bflat foot joint was so that I could play it correctly. My dream piece, though (and I doubt I`ll get a chance play it anytime soon) is A Night Bald Mountain by Mussorsky (in fact, if anyone knows where I can get the music for that, preferably for free, let me know).

Night on Bald Mountain? Really? Sure. Lemme know what you`re interested in, and I`ll see if I have anything in stock (I have a scanner, so I can just scan it in and email it).

I like the score from The Snowman. The flutes and clarinets get the best parts.

I can`t say I have a favorite; whatever I`m working on is usually my favorite at that time! Right now it`s Charles Griffes` Poem, Saint-Saens` Airs de Ballet d`Ascanio, and a big ol` pile of orchestral excerpts. Of those, I do have favorites: Prokofieff`s Peter and the Wolf (you know it), and Ravel`s Daphnis and Chloe.

And who couldn`t love Syrinx by Debussy?

I love the Phantom of the Opera. In fact I`m looking for the full version of it, not the book.
