What is a in-line G and a low B foot? |
|
The inline G is the two keys located on either side of the Ab key arm. They are either in line with the rest of the bigger keys on the body section or they are off-set. Most all of the beginner flutes have off-set G.
If you look at your flute's foot joint, you will see the one key that you should have your pinky on most all the time (Except for the fingering for D). Forget that key and look at the two other keys. They are for fingering the low C# and low C natural...the note on Pianos called middle C.) A flute with the low B foot section has three keys in line going to the end. C#, C, and low B.
I'm not affiliated with any company but one of the many good places to browse for flutes online is
http://www.fluteworld.com/
They have many to choose from as well as a glossary of flute features page:

Although they don't sell the Armstrong line, the Armstrong flutes are a U.S. company that has been around for quite some time and have made loads of student flutes.
