piccolo is kind of hard I JUST STARTED PICCOLO THIS YEAR FOR MARCHING BAND. WHAT I DO IS I JUST THINK ABOUT THE TIGHTER MY LIPS GET THE BETTER THE SOUND. AND WHEN YOUR HITTING THE TOP NOTES WORK ON HOLDING YOUR EMBOUCHURE REALLY REALLY TIGHT. HOPE THIS HELPS.

if you`re a flute player, you could just use your flute music to practice. The piccolo is exactly the same, except it`s smaller, plays an octave higher (with the same fingerings,) requires a tighter embouchure, and doesn`t play a few more notes. (Such as, a low C, a low B, or some of the extremely high notes on flute. Or maybe it does play them, and I just can`t hear them? ha ha)

Yes, flute music can be used as piccolo music perfectly well for practicing. It`s in the same key, and it`s written in the same range.
