I'm planning on auditioning for conservatoires including the Royal College of Music in London and others. They have different requirements, some wanting 2, some 3 pieces. I will be going for joint piano and flute.
I'm thinking of doing the Variations on the Carnival of Venice by Briccialdi and a Bach sonata. I did half of number 6 for my grade 8 and don't really want to continue with it. I like number 5, would that be ok? It seems easier than number 6, too much?
And the 3rd? Guess it's got to be something with dodgy timing like Faure's Fantasie? Rutter's Suite Antique? Timing is not my forte...
Hopefully number 3 shouldn't come up due to the 2 instruments. Are the Carnival of Venice and Bach OK? Just that I know the 20th century french stuff is harder timing wise and therefore more of a contrast to Bach while the Carnival of Venice is more technique and speed than timing, though it has it's moments.
I'll be playing the 2nd movement of the Rach 2 and selected Goldberg Variations for the piano (I think).
Thanks

oh, and I played the Carnival of Venice when I was 15, so it is relearning and not too bad. I've played John Rutters Suite Antique in the past but never finished it.
