you may need to take it in for a bath, how long have you had it? silver tarnishes pretty fast.

nevermind, after having it for a year you should take it in to get it professionally cleaned and serviced, they`ll get it looking like new and replace any pads that need to be replaced.

The cleaning for my clarinet runs around $65 because they remake some of my keys for me if they are a little bend...50% pure silver keys.

it`s a lot cheaper than paying to get new keywork done or a new flute.

How dark is this stuff; it may not necessarally be tarnish. I have this black stuff around my keys as well- but I know it`s not tarnish, I believe it may be something used on pads to glue them or something. When I got my pads replaced they didn`t do a very clean job- good, but messy- and now I have black stuff between the keys.
