Hi evryone i`m a 14 yr old Flautist and i live in aus i been playing flute for 5 yrs and i was wondering when ure slouching does that affect the way the sound that comes out of the flute? because in my school band i`m the section leader and one of the flautists in my section was slouching and i told them to sit up straight and they said no because it doesn`t do anything to the sound and i told her it did and she said to aske anyone so i was wondering am i right or is she right? does slouching affect ure tone and quality of playing?

In my opinion, slouching would affect the playing quality. And your posture also affects the way you grow and they way your bones shape. So, if they will just sit up, it`ll help them in more aspects than one :D

It affects your lung capacity so she might not be able to play for as long, but i doubt wether it affects the quality.

Yeah, it does effect your lung capacity, and it can effect your tone as well. Thats why there such a priority placed on standing up straight and having good posture in marching band.
