I was told by the woman who gives me lessons that armstrongs arent that good... They have a lot of pitch issues and they dress them up to look nice but they really arent... I reccomend Pearl or Yamaha

I have a Selmer 220 B, an Armstrong 104, and a Gemeinhardt. A good flute player can get a nice tone with a good pitch on any flute whether it is a Bundy or a Yamaha.

Yamahas are an excellent flute, but I am in the opinion that it is the player that makes the flute not the flute that makes the player.

I will be teaching my daughter on the 104 because it has the curved head peice.

Armstrong has nice flutes that is well within a budget unlike other brands--- Yamaha can be quite expensive.

There are some music stores that will let you test the instrument. Just stay away from the no name brands or the cheap brands like Simba, Symphony, etc., etc. There are some music stores that will refuse to work on them.

We sell the new Armstrongs that are being made for the European market, and they are going down very well with teachers over here.

I have played many flutes in my day and if I had to pick between a Gemeinhardt and an Armstrong, I`d take the Armstrong.

I regret having purchased my Gemeinhart. I never did hold up very well. It spent more time in the shop for adjustments than it was worth.

I now have two Armstrongs, and I love them both. These ones are both over twenty years old. I have heard that in recent years the company has made many improvements as well.

Here`s an Armstrong flute question for you. Has anybody heard of a model 75 Armstrong? Is it any good?

I play an Armstrong Heritage and it is great. I play as much as 7 performances a week and it is still in there kicking after 3 years hard use.

I think Armstrong flutes are pretty good. I rented one from my school for 2 years and it worked very well. Recently I bought a Geminhardt, I think the sound is not as warm as the Armstrong. I suggest you to get an Armstrong.

You do not want to get an Armstrong. I have one and its terrible. I have to get it fixed all the time. And the tone on them are even worse. In my opinion, Gemeinhardt will be your best bet. I haven`t ever owned my own Gemeinhardt but I have played them before and they are wonderful. From what I`ve heard Gemeinhardt will last a long time.
