I would be very careful with Armstrong flutes, the few students of mine who own them find them resistant and hard to play in the upper and middle register. They can, however, have a very full tone, but one has to work hard.
P.S. Piccolo Queen, sorry to correct your spelling, but poor spelling might hurt you later in life

be careful with armstrong flutes these days, some of my students have them and find them very resistant in the middle and upper octaves, they actually have a full tone, but you have to work for it.
p.s. piccolo queen, sorry to correct your spelling

There are Armstrongs and Armstrongs. In my experience, for every good one, there may be a hundred that range from mediocre to apalling.

I agree with Piko, be sure to try before you buy, some of the new ones are heavier than drain pipes

Armstrong flutes are really good, they`ve got a really good sound. I`ve been playing one for about 6 years now and I really haven`t had any trouble with mine. Of course, it`s the player, not the flute, but I wouldn`t get a cheap brand. Armstrongs are fairly priced.

"Armstrong flutes are really good, they`ve got a really good sound."
I think that anybody, especially a flute-playing technician, who has had contact with MANY Armstrongs would find it impossible to agree with that.
As I wrote before:
"There are Armstrongs and Armstrongs. In my experience, for every good one, there may be a hundred that range from mediocre to apalling."
".... but I wouldn`t get a cheap brand. Armstrongs are fairly priced."
Where I am, at least in recent years, Armstrongs HAVE been a cheap brand, but overpriced.
are fairly priced.
