I`m curious about why you recommend a C foot and not a B foot.

I love my Armstrong 80bt flute. It has wonderful tone and is very easy to play. It is especially great in the lower register with a smooth hypnotyzing tone.

Hey, I have an Armstrong 104 that I am trying to sell, and am being asked questions I don’t know how to answer, like, is it silver or nickel plated… was wondering how you tell? And if you can tell by the serial number…the number is 28 53972. thanks heaps.

It will be either nickel or silver plated. Some say N after the 104, but not always. I have run into a few that don`t have it. Silver is brighter while nickel is darker in color. Put it next to something like silver jewelry of some kind and you should be able to tell right away if it is nickel or silver plated.

Gemeinhardt 2SP vs Armstrong    23:06 on Sunday, January 8, 2006

This is the model I had for 10 years, playing every day, sometimes 5 hours a day, and it only had to go in for standard tuneups. This was between 20-30 years ago, mind you!

I am looking for an inexpensive used one to replace mine, which was lost in a move about 18 years ago and never replaced. ( I have an opportunity to get a used Armstrong (from the same era as my Gemeinhardt), sounds like a student model, for $80. One key needs repair, pads could use replacing. Is this a decent deal? (Been years since I looked)

Amy, I have an Armstrong 104 with gold lip plate and crown with brand new pads on it that I am only selling for $165. It is in like new condition minus one micro ding. It was just oiled, polished and adjusted also. Here are photos of it if you are interested.

Yes, that is kind of my signature on a lot of flutes that I sell.

Piko, here is the flute that I was telling you about earlier that was all black with tarnish. It turned out pretty nice. It plays very nice also, which I was suprised.

I just prefer the weight of the flute with a cfoot, but I have nothing against a bfoot, played it for years, my current flute, an old Haynes, plays better in tune with a cfoot

Kara - NICE Jupiter!    13:38 on Monday, January 9, 2006

Kara, that Jupiter looks real nice! I once played an old, beat-up, out-of-adjustment student level basic Jupiter (the foot kept falling off!)when mine was somewhere else and I had to use something, so I have never compared them.
Are you impressed with the way it sounds? How is it overall?

It plays nicely with a good mechanism, but the sound is a bit thin and tinny to me. I think that the Armstrong student flute that I am selling actually sounds better. On this Jupiter the embouchure whole is rather small then what I am used to, so maybe that is why it wasn`t comfortable for me. The newer ones sound better to me.

Thanks Kippsix, I would be happy to do your flute for you anytime if you would like. I do it all the time for friends and students.

I don`t really care to gold plate lip plates because it does eventually come off, but I have found that so many people are now allergic or sensitive to silver that I have been doing this this. The gold plated rings I have found to to stay on since there is not contact with the skin when playing there. That is purely cosmetic, but it makes it unique that way. I just love the combination of silver and gold.

Thanks! I don`t think I`ll go for it with my present flute, but I`ll keep my eye on any of the flutes you work on to see if I might be interested in buying from you!
