Please post back here.

I personally like Serenade for Solo Flute by Philip Glass. He rarely publishes sheet music and that is the only thing available by him for our instrument. The entire piece is 9 minutes, but you can pick and choose amongst the movements.

I am playing Sonata in F major by Georg Philip Telemann. If you go to fluteworld dot com, they are based in michigan but you can mail-order sheet music from around the globe from them. They will ship you a catalog I think.

What level are you playing at? I`ve only ever playing in class A, sorry, but if you are in class A, these are my favorite:

1. Syrinx by Debussy. It`s a beautiful unaccompanied piece. I played it when I was a sophomore. It`s mainly in the low range, and the rhythm`s probably the hardest part to it.
2. Andante Pastoral and Scherzttino by Taffanel. This one has two sections, a slow one, and a faster one. It`s a lot of fun to play.
3. Fantasie by Georges-Hue. This one`s fun as well... it starts off slow, but gradually speeds up.

u can try the flight of the bumblebee i`m a freshman and i am putting the finishing touches for the solo/ensemble festival. You should try it. it seems really hard at first but the way i did it is by playing it really slow and speeding it up little by little and by also practicing the different parts seperately until i got it. before u know it u`ll be playing it like a pro.

Really, who cares what grade you are playing. You can play any grade of music you want like a lot of the robot flutist that get a so called degree Unless you can play it with soul and personality you have nothing.

Merlena had some good suggestions. depending on how long and what level you are at, those are some good ones. easier one, yet challenging to play well emotionally would be Gluck`s Orpheo. i also suggest the Hungarian Pastorale Fantasie by Doppler (one of my favourites!). or the Concertino by Chaminade (which is very popular in the flute circle). Bach suites are always good to pull from.

best of luck

Poem by Charles Griffes is a beautiful piece. And so is Concertino by Chaminade, but a little difficult.

Poem is in 9/8 and Concertino is in 4/4

Since I live in Michigan, I order my music from fluteworld.com

i noticed that both fluteworld.com and jwpepper.com both have the cheapest prices for sheet music around

poem is good, chaminade is good but EVERYONE plays it. something ensamble that would be fun would be the Scherzo from a Midsummer Night`s Dream by Felix Mendelssohn. it`s pretty sweet. my favourite
