I`m a high school sophomore, and I`m looking for an intermediate flute with open holes, and a silver head. Does anybody know a good brand to suggest? I think I`d like something that produces a rich, dark sound.

I`m not sure where your located, but if your within driving distance of DC, try the Washington Music Center ( http://www.wmcworld.com/). Its in Wheaton, MD, just outside of DC. I`ve been told they have really good prices.
As for brands, I can`t really recommend any. The open-holed I occasionally use is an Armstrong, and it has a good sound.
Hope this helps

Try a Germeinhardt. They`re very good brands, in my opinion. I have two flutes that are Germainhardts; I`ve never been disappointed. There are better brands, the prices may be a bit high. : ]
