I agree with you, that gets on my nerves, maybe we should come up with something like that for other instruments. In my school we`re called "band fags" or "Flaggets", but the funny thing is is that we the band members and colorguard members call ourselfs those names

I only heard the joke once from this trumpet player, and he didn`t even know I played the flute. Where I go to school, the band people are actually cool (hahah) since all the fyne guys are in band *cough*percussion-trumpet*cough*
But I don`t know...I`m going off to `training` or `band camp` this summer...if anyone infuriates me off with that joke I`m gonna whack them with my case.

Hi there. I don`t know how I came upon this message board, but I found this interesting. The thing is... I used to play flute in jr. high. You wanna talk about getting made fun of?!? Try being a guy who plays flute! It did get me pretty angry and for a while I`d just beat people up who made fun of me. Of course that wasn`t the answer. But I can`t imagine what it would be like being a flute player, male or female after that movie came out. How annoying. I guess it`d bring me back to beating on people. Oh well. Be strong and don`t stop playing the instrument of choice. After all... once High School is over, the jocks and popular people figure out they`re really nobodies in life. I don`t really mind the joke much, because I use it with my band friends alllll the time! ^__^ We know we`re dorks, and we don`t care. Since the band thinks it`s funny, and uses it all the time... The preps/jocks have given up. ^^ but, really, it`s funny! `This one time, at band camp...` how does that not amuse you? Especially for those of us who have been to band camp?

I`ve never seen the movie so I don`t understand the joke but my friends say it to me all of the time because I went to band camp and what not. It got annoying real fast but anyways yeah could someone please explain what is so funny about it to me?

I can not stand that! I have threatened so many people with the next time they say that I`d stick my flute up their buts. It doesn`t seem to faze them. It makes me so mad. Even my boyfriend and best friends participate. Grrrrrr!

yea the joke gets stupid after a while. whenever i tell a story about band camp. lol. its annoying but whenever iw ant 2 talk about i always say 1 time at band camp, blah blah blah. tehee i dont really mind but i think its quite funny.
