sure, it`s a good start... but taking private lessons will get you even further. I can play every note in the normal flute range... which is from the low b to the high high high D. Keep the practicing up and you`ll be able to play that too someday

You`re doing a great job! keep it up

I only have one thing to say though...

I have never taken private lessons and I have full flute range (well not full but low B to the 4th octave D)

I`m not saying you should not take the lessons, (you should if you can) it`s just my parents never had the money for them, and if you can`t get them like me, just keep working real hard and you can still do very well without them.

(don`t be discouraged if you don`t get the lessons. hard work pays off!!)

ive been playing seven years, my range is from low B nat. to 4th F... you can find higher fingerings online, B foots extra tubing helps with the high notes.

it is not how many notes you play that is important. It is what control you have over tone/volume/pitch of the notes that you play that has a million times more importance. After two years, if you are doing well, you should be able to get a (perhaps non-vibrato) tone/volume on individual middle-range at least) notes that is comparable to what you might hear in a recording. This would be pretty difficult without a GOOD teacher, which could be in a private or group lesson situation.

Bragging?

It`s like writing about how many actual words you have learnt in a foreign language, when of greater importance is knowing how to put them into comprehensible sentences.

Is that `bragging`? You decide.

One of the several fingerings for fourth octave D is left hand thumb and ring finger, along with right hand first and second fingers, plus low C.

I have been playing for eight months and do not take lessons either(I wish I could though) and I can play from low C to third octave G with relative ease, but from there up gets a little difficult.

No player can play Bb in the 4th octave. What are you talking about?

The limit for accomplished players is 4th octave F or F#.
