I am with the Sycamore High School Marching Band in Cincinnati OH. We are the band that started the Pirates `fad`. In 2000 we did a pirates themed show, which i might add was awesome. the next year was seasons(horrible). Then Egyptian (so so) last year was a scottich show (better). And this year we have an awesome show called Heartbeat. Watch us at the midwest(i think BOA) regionals. Also, We are class AA following Carmel.

We, too, are doing a Key Poulan show, DaVinci`s Dream. It`s a very energetic show and has lots of visual possibilities. It`s a show commemorating flight and our drill was well written to incorporate this theme. One of our moves is a jet rotation and one of my other drum majors and I bring the jet around with the orange lights that the traffic controllers use to bring in the planes. Also, the three of us drum majors got into costume, each representing the movement that we conduct; I got to be Orville Wright for my mvmt. - Kitty Hawk. The other drum majors were Amelia Earhardt(sp?) and a military pilot in an Air Force flight suit. It`s so much more fun when the general effect is really tied together with choreo and music. But I digress...Key Poulan has some great music that is exciting and original and has it online for all to hear. www.keypoulan.com (Check it out!) I hope all is going well for everyone, and have a great marching season!

Our band`s show is called "Sine Nomine" (no-name) and our songs are "Marching Song", "Nimrod", and "Sine Nomine." Sound like a joke? Trust me, it`s all true! We saw 8 bands at one competition alone playing Pirates of the Caribbean. And to think - our band just about chose that because our mascot is the pirates (we`re the Buccaneer Band)!! Good thing we didn`t!! Hahaha...

My band is 5A (like, 240 members I think-we have 27 flutes). We were thinking about doing POTC, but we did "Fiesta!" instead. Our opener and ballad are ok-not very latiny, but our closer kicks major butt w/Fire dance But we`ve hosted and or gone to 3 competitions so far, and like EVERYONE is doing POTC. It`s soo weird

Yah-we went to Peach State (in Rome, right?), and we most def got 4 out of 4 in our class. Kinda stunk, even though we got all superiors and top DM and Drumline.

It has been a while since I was in high school, but the marching I was in did some interesting stuff. Mind you I was in a small town and started as a marching band member in the 7th grade.
My first two years we did Les Miserables. The next two years we did Evita. The following year we did Dante`s Devine Comedy.
My senior year, we did an italian theme two songs from the God Father, a song from Tosca and a song from The Barber of Seville.
I only kept up with the band for two years after graduation. One year they did Jesus Christ Superstar and the next they did Cabaret.
The first two years we were AAA class then we moved up to AAAA class, after I graduated they revised all of the classes and I thnk it was in what was called Small Schools Class

My instructor is a very showtunes kinda guy so we`re doing "Buffet in Birdland" and we play Birdland, Fins, Brown Eyed girl, and son of a Son of a Sailor. It`s actually pretty good, Idunno we were judged one game and got all 1`s. We have alot of fun with our music so it`s all good.

O yeah sorry, we`re 4A but it`s a private school so it would usually be a 3A. Not many private schools have marching bands anymore, are any of you guys in one?
