I absolutley love the bass flute!!! Anyone with me on this? It`s just such a cool instrument, and I love the sound. I wish I could play one, they are just so darn expensive . *sigh*

Has anyone had a bass flute in their band or anything? I considered asking my band teacher about getting one, they all complain about the mass number of flutes compared to the other instruments anyway...

I actually regard them as rather a pathetic instrument, because of their gross inefficiency - so much air needed for so little sound.

I love bass flute! its so much fun to play. We have a flute choir where I live and I played alto flute for that and it sounds really cool all together.

Awww! It`s not pathetic...it`s so cool...it`s like a flute...but has a low sound...and yeah.

bass flute is a wonderfull instrument. it adds much color and bass sound to a flute ensemble.. It is wasted on a full band, but who on earth plays the bass flute in a full orchestra?? no one, it was created for jazz. its a wonderfull instrument that would help your flute sound also.. it doesnt take too much air, just a loose emboucher ( this will greatly improve flute lower registers)... if you have the money, GO FOR IT! i dont, so i got a alto flute, which is cheaper.. i must say the projection is good, if you get accustomed to the differences.

So you don`t think there`s anyway I`d convince my teacher to get one? I mean...we`re supposed to get a new bassoon, but we have 3 already, and like, we`ll only have 2 players (unless we get freshys next year) by next semester...and I mean wouldn`t it just be the coolest to have a bass flute?
