Hey is anyone particuarly Marching band going to Diney for new Years day preparade or parade? or even during that time? Any suggestions for newcomers? We`re going down this year for 5 days and since we`re driving down from PA (19 long hours) I `d l`ike b prepared. Like we have wool uniform how warm is it usually around that time? Are the poeple at the park nice about it? About how long is the march typically?

But let me know how it goes (if ur marching at Disney land)...cuz I want to be prepared for the weather in 06

We`re marching in the New Years day Parade but we`re leaving PA (I hate buses) on the 26th so we spend most of our break there or at least on our "vacation" Wahoo going to Disney world with 200 people in the same uniform my dream. :p But yeah . . .

I didn`t go in January but several years ago I went for high school in spring and it was a marching band theme with tons of them parading around disney but it was at night so my advice MAKE SURE YOU MEMORIZE YOUR MUSIC!! Some areas the lights cut out and you can barely see a thing so memorizing the music is a must. Usually we did for especially marching band but maybe because it was a field trip our director was more lax. Litterally when we performed and the lights cut out 3/4 the band cut out it was awful. So yes lighting is VERY poor in some areas!

I am in a band that went in April of my freshmen year to march down main street in Disney. We were also in our wool uniforms and it does get really hot. Ask your director if you can keep your uniform jackets on the busses so they stay cool while you are warming up and tuning your instruments. Another thing is to avoid getting sun poison on your shoulders before the parade. I got it and after we put our uniform jackets on it started to hurt really bad and got worse after my director patted me on my shoulder because I looked nervous. Have a great tiime. They will most likely have water at the end of the route, they did for us. Definately learn your music and have it memorized because they are really strict about what everything is like. It must be the best. My brothers one friend did a one year work thing there and she said everything must be perfect or you get into trouble. Uniforms must be pressed and wrinkle free, and shoes must be very clean. It was sort of a pain but it was worth it. Not as much as playing for president bush but definately right up there.

Sorry I am also from Pa and we also had two busses for the marching band and two for the orchestra. It was a really long trip. It took us 22 hours to get there. I am a terrible sleeper on a bus and I had fallen asleep at four in the morning and was woken at around five thirty in the morning for breakfast. But it was really worth it because it was a lot of fun.

I was thinking maybe I went to something different i don`t remember it being so strict to play at disney in the marching parade and JUST remembered as I read your posts that they did have some guidlines. I can`t even rememember exactly I think there were some staff making sure our uniforms were neat, I also had to remove my earing that I had pierced 2 months prior at the top where there`s cartilage and you need it for 3 to 6 months and I had to take it off I was ticked! But it`s still here it worked out and I matched!
