Yamaha or Jupiter. Which is better at
intermediate level?? The flute I have now
is a Gemeinhardt 2np and I`m getting an
upgrade.

Well, I have to say that I have a Jupiter and it`s the easiest flute to play...well, out of the ones in my section I`ve tried. I`ve had to lend it to people for their challenges because they like it so much...

I had Yamaha as my 1st flute (now I have a LUVLY muramatsu) But Yamaha is so much better than Jupiter - no offence to `Coasterchik`. It is up 2 u, but Yamaha is generally the best 1 2 go 4! And also `Coasterchik` I wouldn`t say that the easiest instruments to play are always the best!

I can`t say that I have tried many a yamaha, but I just love my Jupiter to death. Maybe it`s just different flutes for different people.

If one hasn`t tried several of each, and is not familiar with the maintenance issues for both, then I am not sure one is in a position to make a valid recommendation!

Meme - I don`t know who this comment was aimed at, maybe Caroline, or in general? I don`t know, but I don`t think that anyone in this forum has made out they know everything you could possibnly ever know about flutes, apart from you, maybe? I understand you are v v v v experienced, but this is a forum, where everyone can leave their opinions.

It is obvious from the way I worded it, using `one` instead of `you`, that I was not "aiming" it at any individual. Rather I was warning people reading this forum for VALID information, that some of what is presented may be of highly questionable value.

The original post asked for a comparison. NO comparison is valid if the person "comparing" has no experience of one of the items being compared. Therefore what is written here varies from worthless to valuable, and it is pretty difficult in a forum situation to sort out which is which.

Perhaps, in order to give relevance when opinions are made, it should be made clear just what such opinion is based on.

I greatly appreciate your comments. Personally, I think a good idea is to separate fact from opinion. If someone has X brand and truly loves its performance, the best thing to say is, "I have X brand and couldn`t imagine a better flute!" rather than saying, "X brand is the best."

It just clears up a lot of confusion and makes the statements factual.

O my, I`m sorry for this confusion. Ok here goes, I have a Jupiter and couldn`t imagine a better flute! Is that good? I`m sorry it`s just I`m kind of new here.
