This isn`t really a question, but a `discussion`. What kind of reopetoire do you guys like playing? I have recently got loads of new music. I would recommend it all :-
Lennox Berkely Sonata
Reinecke Sonata
Gaubert Sonata
A Book of Romantic French Flute Music (sorry I don`t know what it`s called - it includes Faure - Fantasie, Gaubert Fantaisie, Chaminade - Concertino and about 6 or 7 other pieces)
Martin - Ballade
Zez Confrey - Dizzy Fingers (picc)
Arnold - Concerto
C.P.E Bach - Concerto
Irish Fantasy (can`t remember composer, but it`s lovely)
Mike Mower - Picc sonata (new out last year)
Ok, so just food for thought .....
What do you like playing?

I like playing celtic, classical, or hymn arrangments. My favorite book right now is probably the piano/flute duet book, The Legends, by Sir Galway and Phil Coulter. I play it with my sister, whos been playing piano for nearly 11 years.

You mean difficulty, I suppose? Its labeled intermediate but it has some really easy ones as well as some really hard ones. Theyre all very good, though.

for this *discussion* I`d just like to say that Fantasie - by Faure is my ALl South Jersey Band solo piece. It is one of the most complicated pieces our high school has come across, and i find it very, very, very hard to play. Since im not very good at tongueing 16th notes at a 144 beats per minute tempo. If anyone CAN play this piece or just knows of it.. some help would be appreciated

Hi!
Faure- Fantasie is lovely. I doubletongue it, but the doubletonguing has to be soft to fit in with the style.

Hi. I know that at J.W. Pepper has most of the Lord of the Rings music, but I got the Fellowship of the Ring from Schmidt music. It`s expensive, though. I had to pay nearly $20 for three songs. As to what I like to play: Bach has a great bit called "Polonaise and Badinere" that I just love. I ended up playing it for a state competition and was ranked high because of it. I havent found any good James Galway arrangements. Where have you found yours? I love the Phantom of the Opera and I`m playing it with Concert Band, too! We have a poor arrangement, though, and it doesnt really sound like the real thing.
