Marching flute is not that bad. I marched flute for two years and now I march piccolo. As for the majorette thing I cant help you cause my band doesnt do that.

It really depends on how involved you want to get with the band. I am first chair, too, for the flutes and have been preparing myself for my chance at majorette. It is much harder being majorette because of all the whistle commands and how a little mistake could mess up the whole band. I am Right Lead(i hope everyone knows what that is)and have to memorize only verbal commands, but with majorette, you need to be on pins and needles for any problem that might come along. This is how it works at my school but I dont know how your school works.

Being a Majorette would be different. A lot of schools in the northeast do not have majorettes anymore.
Being a majorette will take a lot of hard work and committment, which it is important to know up front. It can also be a lot of fun. I don`t know what your future plans are, but I do know that most colleges want well rounded diverse people. So being a majorette fpr marching and stick with flute for regular band can really set you apart from other applicants during college admissions processes. It will be a set apart for the better.
I`m sorry if I sound like I`m preaching.
I hope this helps. I know that this is a very tough decision.

It is best to stick with the flute for regular band. and Be a Majorette for marching band.
This is just my opinion based upon the knowlege that I have on college admissions.

if your talking about becoming a majorette and twirling baton then i think you should try marching first with the flute and if you really don`t like it become a majorette. And if you still want to do flute do majorette for marching band and flute for concert band. But if you do want to become a majorette you definetly have to know how to twirl baton with all the moves and stuff like that. Try it out and see how you like it. I`m already a majorette in my school band and it`s a lot of fun. Good luck wit your decision

we do not have a majorette in our band so i can`t tell you much about that. although i marched flute my first year of marching band.. it`s not that bad. your arms may be a bit sore, espcially the first few days of band camp, but it`s really not bad. i didn`t play flute this year because i switched to piccolo.. although most people(in our band anyways) wait until there junior year for that... hope this helped some.. but in the end you need to make the decision based on what you really want
