I think I can also give you a hand. I just started to play a few years ago and I am just horable at my low notes. The advice I can give is to practice and try as much as you can. It may be bad now but adventually you`ll get it.

hi, I have been playing flute for nearly 7 years now and because my old flute was broke and wouldnt let me play low c i have only played it lately. My teacher told me to start at low c and hold it for about 4 beats and then play middle c and move up the c major scale it really helps with all the notes on the low regester. good luck

yeah, it`s hard to get low c out!!! my tips are trying to roll out your flute, and look down! (yeah, that sounds strange but it works) it also helps so start from like a low f and just play down to a low c.

Play very lightly, make sure your mouth is on the ombeshure (sp). Wiggle the flute slowly to make your mouth at different angles

If you have an open hole flute try putting the plugs in and playing it, or make sure your holes are covered. It also helps me to start at an e or e flat and go down untill i reach c. just give it a try!

I had the same trouble for about the last 8 months. Try making your embechure bigger, blow lighter, and press the key harder. you may have a hole in your pad.(it might help to have that checked out) well, good luck w/ the band business! ~MacFlutey

To help with low note strength, work lying on the floor with a heavy book on your stomach into your practice routine. Push the book up and down using your stomach muscles.

it is rather hard to hit the low C. you may have a leak in the pad on the key or your mouth may be in the wrong position. ask someone to see if there is a leak or if you know how, check yourself. if there is no leak try loosening the corners of your mouth and just keep trying. Don`t be discouraged if you can`t do it. it takes a while.

all you gotta do is relax your embachure... higher you go the tighter your embachure gets
and the further out your jaw is,the lower you go you more relaxed and bring your jaw in more...
hope that helps

hey, i`ve played the flute for not even 3 years yet, and hit my low c only about 1year and a half through when i first started to play the flute...the trick is to loosen your lips ALLOT, and breathe very lightly(thinly) to get that low c out. That`s what my old music teacher told me to do, and now i can play every note on the flute range. Trust me and it will work.

On low c you do have to open up your mouth a bit more and slightly drop your jaw. The corners of your mouth should be relaxed and not pulled up tight. Like blowing into a bottle. The tighter your mouth is ,the more your air is choked out.(also open the throat) Try "HUH" instead of "TOO"

Add more support and roll your flute IN not out. If you don`t add support your pitch will drop and be very flat.

I can`t play the low C on my flute, but my local music repair shop told me it was because I had a dent on my footjoint right next to the hole of the last key. I can play the low C on my sister`s flute.(something she has difficulty with). Is there any way of popping out that dent to fix my problem? My repairman said yes, but his eyes aren`t what they used to be and cannot do it himself. I only trust him and myself with repairing my instrument. Is there a way for me to do it myself.
