For some reason the link didn`t go to the picure. Well anyway, there is still a picture of a flute on that page with the pointed key arms. I know there is a site with pictures that show the differnce between Y arms and pointed, but I have to find it.

Alright if you look at that picture, I think that`s the closet it looks like, except if you look at (if you`re playing the flute, the key between your left pointer and middle finger) that key, that vertical line which is some rod of sone kind, isn`t present on the flute I`m looking at buying. Does that make it any more special of a flute, because I usually just see the regular open hole with my friend`s flutes

1.) Is this, in fact, a good, great, or once in a life time opportunity price? good price but definitely not once in a life time deal. it also depends on what condition it`s in
2.) How much do one of these types of flute on the market usually run? look on flute world for this answer www.fluteworld.com or go to the gemeinhardt web (i can`t spell the name to save my life. )
3.) If I wanted to resell it, could I easily get $600 or more for it? no, and the reason for that is that it`s used, and it`s not one of those kinds of flutes that go up in price after used, and truth is, not a lot of people prefer gemeinhardts when it comes to playing pro.
4.) Is this type of flute something that could last me through high school, and college if I wanted to play in an orchestra or other group, or would I again, need to upgrade?you would have to update it. i don`t think it;ll last you very long. it`s a good temporary flute to get though. once you get into college you might want to get a new and better one.
5.) The only thing that`s missing is a tuning rod. Is that that big of a deal?in the long run yes.

i`m not a pro. in fact i`m a sophomore in highschool (so you`re older than me!) but i do work in an instrument repair shop and have played for 10 years so i hope i got most of what i said right. my aim sn: themorrigan07 if you want to talk about flutes. best of luck

Fluteloops, first of all I must add in here that I am a professional fluteist and I have to disagree with you on being able to resell that flute. I buy and sell flutes as part of my job and I have seen MANY 33SB flutes go for $900. Look on ebay.
Do you buy and sell flutes also? I only ask because I wonder why you said what you did.

Also, please tell me why it would be a problem if she doesn`t have a tuning rod with it? Just go out and buy another Gemeinhardt rod. Easy enough.

Please be careful what kind of advice that you are giving unless you know the facts for sure.

evidently the place i work at sells flutes a lot cheaper than they really need to be then. i was just going by what the place i work at does. as for the tuning rod, i thought she meant to play w/out one. misunderstanding on my part. and i did say that i wasn`t professional

of course, the people who sell it can sell it for a lot more than what they original owner is recieving. i was thinking along the lines of profit...but if she`s going to sell it herself instead of through someone else (which is the way that i`ve always done it) then i wouldn`t know

(Regarding fluteloops post)
Understandable. How would one play with a tuning (Cleaning) rod? It is meant to stay in the case when playing the flute and is only used to clean out the flute and check the head joints cork position. Were you confusing it with something else perhaps?

yeah, after reading my post, it doesn`t make sense...i didn`t mean play...whoops. what i meant (lets see if i can actually word it right this time) is that if she tunes with a tuning rod that`s not the same as the Gemeinhardt one, then it will effect, not necessarily the tone quality but the pitch when tuning with an orchestra. good thing i`m not professional

...alright I think the overall consensous *sp is that over all, this is a very nice flute for the price she`s offering to me, and I could re-sell it easily for the same amount, or even more. And a tuning rod, isn`t a huge deal because you can get them anywhere. But I`m still wondering if anyone could answer the question of, is the picture that I gave above (the long link) are those the pointed key arms that people are mentioning? And does that add/subtract value to the flute (and yes, I`m almost certain it is a 33SB for those asking earlier, and it is in great condition for those who didn`t see what I wrote earlier) ?
