Hey!I am a 13 year old that plays the flute.I love it sooo much!If you play please stick with it,it is one of the best things you will ever do.In my band, they do not really have chairs picked out.Instead to be section leader, you have to be the oldest,it sucks for me,I am not near the oldest.
But I think maybe I will get it next year, because I have worked sooo hard. This year is pretty nice, the intermediate band gets to play with the symphonic band,I am so happy because I am in intermediate.I think I can handle it too.

It`s so sad...my mom wouldn`t let me learn how to play any instruments until I was 12 (i`m 14 now) but i had REALLY wanted to play flute since I was 2. I`m pretty good for only having played 2 years (this is my third) cuz I`m first chair and the girl in second chair has been playing for 4 or 5 more years than me.

right... no offence to all of you flute lovers but i just wanna say that what good songs that are famous and are solos by themselves are done by a person who plays a flute?

this is not an aggressive post i just wanna know one really popular, flutist song.

No way! I`m twelve too! I`ve been playing the flute since 5th grade! That makes two years for me! I really enjoy it, but sometimes I get so frustrated that I want to throw it out the window! I have one word of advice:STICK WITH IT!

I`ve read all of the other ones and you all make me look like pathetic! I`m a second chair(I wouldn`t make first if my life depended on it!)and ,to tell you the truth, when I found out that I was chosen by the band teacher, Mr. Banes, to be a flute I was so upset I cried! The only reason I stuck withit was because I could get a scholarship later in life!

^_^ I`m 13, my name is Jane but my friends gave me the nickname of Janey. I started the flute since 3rd term grd 6..and now I`m in grd 8 so yup one year and about 6 months. I just bought a flute of my own too! ^_^ I`m not too bad at flute at school, I share the highest mark with another girl in my class, I dunno what is with the 1st 2nd 3rd chair thingy though...we don`t do that..at least not yet I guess. So yuup. Lol Busy busy! Three different bands 4 practices each week plus two normal music classes.

I want to take lessons outside of school but my friend tells me its around $2000 dollars!!! Can anyone tell me if it is really?
Email me at Upsidedown_t@hotmail.com Thanks all!

I`ll give the person who asked about whether to push in or out for flute tuning. Would you ever push in anything that`s sharp(ie. like a knife) Nope!(Unless you`re crazy...) so you would pull out. Now, if something were flat it`d be easy to push in! Oh yah, the chair thing is done in a lot of American Schools and orchestras/symphonies etc(I don`t know about other countries) I don`t understand what everyone is talking about levels and passing certain tests though. Can someone help me out with that please?

Your totally unwarranted insult would carry over better if you checked your spelling first.

Main Entry: imˇbeˇcile
Pronunciation: `im-b&-s&l, -"sil
Function: noun
Etymology: French imbécile, noun, from adjective, weak, weak-minded, from Latin imbecillus
1 usually offensive : a person affected with moderate mental retardation
2 : FOOL, IDIOT
- imbecile or imˇbeˇcilˇic /"im-b&-`si-lik/ adjective

If the shoe fits - wear it.
