i would like to know if your bands are also so depressed.

there is a lot if depressed people in our band and we all do band as a distraction.

a lot of the band people is into self-mutilation. they cut their wrists and stuff.

also a lot of them have tried to commit suicide before.

is band a place where depressed people gather?

Eh, that`s kind of odd. There`s a few people, but it`s not like a big cut-myself group. Most people seem to join band because they don`t fit in anywhere else... and there`s the few people who do it for the music.

There`s like only one person that I know of who is depressed in my band. At my school most people join band because they`re really good at music, or else because their parents make them.

In my band (we`re now over 200 members) there isn`t that much depression that I know of... true, there`s sorrow in everyone`s lives, so we`re all depressed in a way... anyway, those people shouldn`t be taken away, because all of us have those thoughts eventually... the main problem with a high school band is the same problem with high schools... popularity... my band has recently been completely taken over by the "favorites" of the band... popular kids get offices in the band council, and only the supreme "favorites" (and occasionally someone not as noticed) get band member of the week... those people just continue to get that prize throughout the year... it`s just something that tends to happen... anyway, not all bands are like that, but a lot of people do use it because it`s the one thing that they can do that allows them to forget about everyday life... it relaxes them because they can focus all of their energy into it... although, that can be stressful too lol... life has it`s difficulties for everyone, but don`t let it get you down because everyone you know is down... keep your head high and live your life... it`s the only one you`re gonna get.......

you know, your right for the most part there, and i`ll admit that i was a bit "rough" back there, but where i am most of it is what i said, total just dumbppl. I was simply "frustrated" and therefore poured out the frustration on the due recipients. For all it`s worth, i`ve had similar experiances as those you mentined. for what it`s worth, i regret that. but honestly, i bet the poster of this topic is a bluffer trying to make a stir, another excuse for my actions.

Although i am a flutist, yes, I believe there is.

Not as much as there was last year, though.

The really good wind ensemble director that made the wind ensemble renowned retired January 2004.

Let`s just say not many people like the new director.

There is still time for improvment.
