Does anyone out there have any tips on how to play Giampieri`s arrangment of the carnival of venice? Northern Ireland Young musician of the year is coming up soon and I need a few pointers on tempo for the trickier passages.

is that the one where there is 3/4 variations on a theme?

if so i think i may have played it for AMEB grade 5...

remember with a theme and variations you need to make sure each variation sounds different in tone colour and mood from the others. give each its own personality. look at the types of notes used, the tempo/mood indications provided and add your own personality to it. youre playing, make it your own.

No you must be thinking of a different one... my one has about 7 variations and is far beyond diploma standard.
