Well, in Florida it is graded as a 6 I believe. Then again, the Nielsen isn't an option for clarinet players in Florida except by expressed permission from the FBA (Florida Bandmaster's Association). Also to note that Florida uses a 1-7 Grading Scale. 1-easy - 7-advanced. Where do you live, and I could find out more specifics for your state/country.

Oh okay. That was kind of what I thought. I'm thinking of applying to the Royal Conservatory of Music in Denmark, and it says on their homepage (http://www.dkdm.dk/) that you should play a number like the Concertino to the audition.

Very awesome! I don't know what conservatory I want to go to. I was thinking of The Manhattan School of Music in New York City, but I am also thinking about Berkeley in Boston, Massachusetts. Either way it won't happen for a while. I will go there for my Master's Degree, and I haven't even started college yet for my Bachelor's. I am also 26 ! Time is running out! God I waited too long to go to college.

Speaking of Ticheli, have you played Postcard from Meadville before? If not you need to check it out in a recording. If your band is pretty good then you need to Con ( im ean ask of course) your band director to play it in band. It's freaking awesome. Another good Ticheli is Trittico. So the Holst one...I am thinking it is either a Planet or the Suite in Eb.

But okay... I forgot to answer Dennis:
I'm only 21 but I feel like time is running out as well
In Denmark we only have 5 conservatories and the others aren't at Zealand (that's the island where Copenhagen is-by the way Copenhagen isn't in Sweden ). Not that Denmark is that big. I think it would only take 5 hours to go to the one which is in the longest distance from Copenhagen, so I could just as well apply there (okay this sentence is really odd I know it - I just couldn't figure out how to write it down. It's 11:33 PM in Denmark now).

I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but the last one is from Gustav Holst's 'Second Suite in F', the first movement. We played it in band and it is such a great song.
Re: Guess That Melody! 00:48 on Monday, March 20, 2006
Also, someone mentioned Holst's 'Suite in Eb' This is the theme from the last movement, the march. I had to notate it in double time so it would play at a more correct tempo.
Here's the theme from the second movement, Intermezzo.
