Copland is actually quite a bit more challenging than Mozart. There is an intense cadenza that know matter what style you choose to play the concerto for (lyrical or technical) judges ALWAYS ask you to play. It is, however, a much better concerto IMHO than the Mozart. Mozart is really easy in the fact that it is mostly straight runs or arpeggios. Copland bounces all over the place. It also has a gliss. at the end of it. Lots more tonguing in it also. What problems are you having with the Mozart? Maybe I can help you with them and even help you with Copland once you get the music. I definitely recommend ordering it since it is required repertoire for college. I like to dabble in a few pieces each day just to refresh my memory, and work on a part of it that is troublesome for me. How long do you have until your audition? Well, I guess I have rambled on enough.

I agree, the Copland is more complex than the Mozart. But I don't it sounds as good.

I've never heard of the Copland's Concerto, but I am curious as to which movements would you be doing if you were to to the Mozart? The second and third are the easiest in my oppinion. If you work on your technical skills for a while, all of the runs become really easy. The first movement would be in my oppinion the hardest, but hey, that's just me. I would reccommend the Mozart simply because I think it sounds great and is a very good piece to have in your repotoire. If you really focus your time and energy, you'll be able to play it, as Dennis said, its easier and its just straight forward scales and arpegios. It took me a less than a year to get all three movements, I started last October and I can play the second and third well, and the first, well....... I can fumble my way through it!!!! But you might be able to get through it quicker than me, you probably have more experience (I'm only 13!!!)

Well, GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!
