Hello peoples!

Im in desperate need of advice for tonguing... when it comes to tonguing semiquavers... my teacher suggests double tonguing... like T K T K or Dig-A Dig-A, but my throat seems to get all tight and it sounds horrible... any advice on any other ways to tongue or to double tongue correctly?? Tongue softer tongue harder???

Cheers

Hmm. Double tonguing is a hot potato in the clarinet world. In order of ease of learning to double tongue, it goes flute as easiest, then double reeds then single reed. Very difficult.

People fall into the trap of trying to double tongue for fast passages, when if their singlwe tonguing was up to speed, they wouldn't have too. Get some study books, os#r go throuhg your scales tonguiong each note four times and build up the speed. DO it with a metronome so you know you are being consistent. That's what I'd suggest anyway, see what others say. Good luck

I do it a lot for the bassoon. When I was attempting to start it on the clarinet, I started slowly. Just like learning a tricky passage.. start slow and then eventually take it up to speed once you've got it.

I am actually facing this kinda problem now. I try some notes, but comparing those sound to my teacher's sound, it is ..... u know wt i am saying. it sounds really different.
Even though my teacher told me how it works. but i just don't understand. he told me to play more scales, he says that works, i hope this could help u.
Honestly, i am still trying this method.
