I use a 3 and sometimes a 3 and a half. They give me a louder sound and better tone. This is why my teacher chose me for section leader next year.

I just recently switched to Legere and It's the best reed I have tried so far. In fact I will probably not bother trying any other type and will stick with this reed from now on. The strength is 2-1\4.

I use, and have used, a Vandoren 3 1/2, with a Vandoren 5RV Lyre Mouthpiece for concert season. I think I might use a 3 for marching season. I'm also a section leader, but I think I got it for more than reed selection.

I use a vandoren 4 or 41/2, I generally use a BARI hard synthetic for marching season though...

A vandoren 2.5. Occasionally I go up to a 3 but it depends on the music.

The clarinet is my second instrument, next to bassoon, so I don't spend as much time on it as I wish I could.
