Yesterday, I got a new plastic (intermediate) yahama clarinet. When I was practicing today I noticed that on some notes like Db and C(the lower notes) you could hear the note but then the sound of air. It annoyed the hell out of me and is insanly discouraging me to not practice. I have no idea if there is somethign wrong with it. Even when I tighten my embroucher I still hear it. Its so annoying....any idea how to fix this. My parents say they can't hear it,but I hear it clearly and it just is so annoying. I hate how you hear the note + this loud air sound. =[ What should I do? Please help.

it might have an air leak somewhere have your director look at it or take it back to where you got it and have them check it over they should fix it free of charge if you tell them what's goin on with it.

I don't get how it is that I broguth this not even 24hrs ago and its already got a defect. Just my luck. With air leaks...is it usually that only you can hear it.

Another question...they had a buffet there too. Should I just exchange it with the buffet? Everyone is saying they are better, but I have no idea why.

Why whats wrogn with them for marching? They play softer right?

I'm getting a wooden one in a few months(saving money) for orchstra because I know they are the best for that, but I never heard they were bad for marching. This clarinet is my marching one O.o. Buffet makes plastic ones although the outside does look wooden(even on my current one) but they said its plastic(the inside is plastic). Thats what confuses me(outside looks wooden but inside is plastic). Well, time to go 1hr and 1/2 to th emusci store XD how I wish it was closer. Atleast now I get to buy some sheet music :P.

they are bad for marching because its a really expensive WOOD clarinet if it rains your screwed and if it has silver plated keys thet'll bend easily so you cant put a lyre on it when i went to band camp someone brought their buffet E11 and the clarinet instructor told her that she should have brought a plastic one. so plastic clarinets are better for marching.

you never march with your nice wooden clarinet unless you just really have NO choice, and even then its not a good thing. if you're gonna march and play in orchestra, keep your plastic clarinet. use your wooden one for orchestra or any type of concert setting.
