I bought a used clarinet recently (Buffet, made in Germany.) It says it is an "F 11." Is that the same kind of clarinet as the "E 11?"
Many thanks.

I searched for a F11 on wwbw.com, and nothing came up so I think that its really an E11, that the serial number thing was smeared so it looks like a F11.
Hope that sorta helps,
NS

Nao- a search on wwbw.com certainly does not justify that comment in any way seeing as how they are only retailers and do not carry all clarinets or even all Buffets. However, the E was most likely resembling an F because some of the gold has worn off. The E in model names for Buffet clarinets signifies that the particular clarinet is made by Evette in Germany, vs. the other French models.

Also- the "serial number" is always unique to each clarinet- and some Buffets might have an F in their serial number, but that does not mean they are a model "F" anything. The F11/E11 referred to here is the model name/number.

Yeah I didn`t mean it as in there is no such thing, it`s just like if it`s possible to buy it pretty easily, it would be.. never mind I don`t know how to explain it but I understand what you mean and I apologize if it sounded like I made up my mind just by looking @ the website. But I think that the gold might have smeared because you can`t even see the gold engravement on my clarinet anymore because it`s so faded.

Thanks for replying! I did look up the serial number and that part checks out...so it must be that the gold is just worn off. Happy playing!
