Hi everyone.. just last year i was in a regional honor band (region band). Some of the peices we had were really fast (like the tempo of presto) and we had to do "double tonguing". I have some sort of idea what it is, but im not really sure about HOW to actually do it. Does anyone know?

i had the same problem! It`s kinda hard to explain, but my band director told the band this: roll(?) your toungue as if u were saying "Tue-Que" Idk if it`s even right, since i`m not that confident about my double tounging, but i think while your tongue is near your throat after your first articulation, u use your throat/interupt (?) the air stream to make the "que" sound...

You just tongue w/ the tip of your toungue and then bring it down and hit w/ the middle like instantaneously. That`s how we use double tounging in our band and we use them on 16th notes.

hmm.. thanks a lot for the info about double tounging. I think i have the technique down.. but the thing is..when i play it on my instrument.. it doesnt sound right! lol. That`s something i have to get used to I guess. If there is anything else i need to know, please let me know, i would really appreciate it.
