hi, im just beggining to learn the clarinet after reaching a high level in the trombone. i have transposed the main riff from john coltraines gioant steps so i can play it on the clarinet. at the end of each little phrase, coltraine ends with a little 'wobble' like a warble. how is this done ? also is there any tips for someone who has just stsrted playing ?

I dont' really know what you mean by "wobble", but there is a few ways to do what I think you mean. One way, probbably the most likely way, is to bend the note. It took me four years to learn how to bend a note on the clarinet and I know professionals that can't do it. But bassically it's the same as how you lower the pitch of a whistle, move your tounge down and to the back of your mouth. The other way is to trill the note down, which is easier but not as Jazzy.

Not all people are as good as you supposedly are! So, stop talking like they're lower than you. It's all the same.

Well, here is a good tip for beginners (very basic too). NEVER GIVE UP!!! At first clarinet recital, I had been playing for less then 3 months. All the other preformers had been playing for about 3 years. I messed up big time, and cried when I got of the stage. But I haven't given up... and I think I play pretty well now.
