well, i know that last year a clarinetist in our marching band bought a white clarinet; it was too short and didn`t sound any good and he had to go back to his regular clarinet!! about the only place you can find them is on ebay or an ebay store, i wouldn`t recommend them! good luck!

From what I`ve seen available, I think the colored clarinets are just a way to sell the ultra-cheap "mystery brand" models. If you`ve been playing a while, compare the tones of different clarinets one after another and you`ll be able to tell not only the differences in the tones, but also which ones play easier for you.

My 11 yr old daughter uses a Bundy with a Buffet mouthpiece. She`s tried a wood Selmer Signet and loves the tone of it, but the Bundy is still easier for her to play.

I`ve got a Vito plastic clarinet and I like it (it`s black). It`s difficult to reach anything above E above the stave - on my wooden one I can reach G. Maybe a better clarinetist could play well on a Vito. I don`t know. The throat notes` tone aren`t very nice and are usually way sharp. Again, a better clarinetist may be able to correct this but I`m just comparing it to my Buffet E-13. I like Vitos better than Yamaha though and in my opinion they are the best plastic clarinets out there.

I have a white clarinet. Nope, it`s not a Vito. It works pretty well, the tone is pretty good. I can get up to the double e with it. It`s mostly for marching band though. I use my trusty ol` Selmer for everything else.

I think how high you can go mostly depends on the reed and technique not the clarinet, as well for those sharp tones?
