Different material ?
of course that is the obvious answer. It's made of crystal and rubber mpcs are made of rubber - wood, plastic etc
Crystal is a more stable material. it won't warp like rubber will if you leave it in your car by accident on a summers day.
I have a fantastic playing crystal which rivals my chedeville mpcs. basically if you find a good one you'll know it.
