Hey everyone,
I am currently playing on a gold Bay ligature, but it's starting to corrode and mold and all of that nasty stuff; but before I buy a new Bay, I'm not too sure if I should try a different ligature out.
My Bay is a wonderful addition to my clarinet set up, and if I have a well working reed, I achieve that wonderful, sweet and tangy clarinet tone.
However, I have heard of other ligatures, such as the Ultimate Ligature and the BG Traditional, and I would like to hear some first hand reviews of these two ligatures, since I have had experience with Rovners and the Vandoren Optimum. I'm attracted to the BG Traditional, but I'm afraid if I make this hefty purchase and my tone is sacrificed, I would have wasted $70 and would still need to replace my Bay.
I also know that not many clarinetists play on Bays, but its a wonderful ligature and I'm just looking for a ligature to not only replace my Bay, but surpass it.
So, folks, I am asking, what is your ligature experience with the Bay ligs, the "Ultimate" ligature, and the BG Tradition? Which one most easily achieves that sweet clarinet tone?
Thanks a lot everyone,
Kyle
