Hi, I'm desperate. I've played clarinet for about four years and have never had a major problem, but now I go over the break WITHOUT HITTING THE REGISTER KEY. I have a band concert in less than a week and I've tried everything I can to fix it. I think my embouchure is messed up. I went home one Friday and when I came back on Monday I started having these problems. And to top it all off, I got my braces off later that day. I can't play much more than an open G and higher, and even that is starting to get flaky. Please help!!!!

First thing to try - look at the A & G# keys. When you press the A key there should be a small amount of movement before the G# key starts to open. If not turn the adjusting screw on the top of the G# anti-clockwise until there is.

I'm sure it's an instrument problem rather than you, especially as it happened before having the brace taken off.

Good luck

Thanks. I actually took it to the shop, and it was just a bent side key! Thanks for posting.
