Hello
I just purchased a b flat clarinet and the only brand markings are a small faint Elkhart on the bell and a serial number of 4001. Appears to be of fairly good quality. Can anyone give me more information about the brand and perhaps it's age through the serial number?

It's most likely an Armstrong clarinet. The 4001 is actually the model number and Elkhart is referring to Elkhart, Indiana where the clarinets are manufactured.

how did you determine it is fairly good quality? And if it is, who cares what name is on it......
