Just curious to who has an All-State honor band in any states. I would like to know if you tried out or made state in the past. I made ALl-State in 8th grade, and made first in Region this year and trying out this Saturday to see if I make it again. And to get to where im at right now, ive also made for ex. first in county for two years, second in district, and fourth and 1st in region this year. So I would like to hear your feedbacks, and tell me how much expirence you have under your belt. Thanks for the replies!
PLay ON!
Luv
Hayley

Haha, I just thought I`d post something here coz it looks a bit empty. I`m haven`t tried out for any honours bands. I been playing for about 7 years. Im doing my associate. Anyway, I hope this fills up the page a bit.

Sorry...I can`t see anyone upset...so I guess I will start. I made All-State both my junior and senior years. One year I did orchestra and the next band. Never could seem to get the top spot in either...highest I managed was second.

I believe that most states will have allstate.

I made one year in District Honor Band (two years before that, my teacher gave my position away), and I tried out for CBDA`s All-State Honor Band for the junior high division just last year, but didn`t make it (they only choose one participant per band).

I also made a college honor band from recommendation.

But anyways, All-State Honor Bands are really difficult to get into in California and I assume in every other state, as well.

Try-out, enjoy yourself, and practice! Happy playing.

I couldnt IMAGINE trying to compete in a state such as California or Texas. That would be `insaine`. South Carolina is hard as it is, lol. I hope everyone does well this year, if your in competition- trying out for State this Saturday, wish me luck. Gtg
Thanks for replys

As a matter of fact I went to try out for the first time a few weeks ago with my bass clarinet. I didn`t make all state but I did make District Honor Band. Although I didn`t make All State I am the alternate so I think I did pretty good to get where I did for the first year of trying. Also, outr football season ran on later so I didn`t get my music till a few weeks before.(If things had gone as planned I would have had it 2 weeks more) I also had to learn *all* my scales in the short time period. I know I can make it next year though and will keep practicing until then!

Hi Hayley, as a matter of fact, I have all-state try-outs this saturday also. This is my very first time trying out for it so im a little nervous about it. I dont have any butterflies right now, but once I get into the room, I probably will. :O I made 8th chair out of 24, so i feel pretty good about it. (The competition here is very very good ) Good luck at your audition. Wish me luck as well!

How many clarinetists from SC post things on this forum??? Hayley! Veronica! Where are you guys from? Who are your teachers? I`m from Charleston and my teacher is Charlie Messersmith. I play first clarinet in the Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra, and I`m homeschooled. I`m playing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto with the Charleston Symphony on March 7th (6pm) at the Sottile Theater if you want to come. It`s going to be a great concert!

I don`t know any clarinetists in Myrtle Beach but my uncle lives there. Maybe I`ll walk over to the clinic clarinet rooms and look for you on Saturday. I am auditioning for the senior band so we wouldn`t be in clinc together, but I will look for you. My real name is Rachel and I have long blonde hair and blue eyes - I`ll be the girl in a long skirt with the HUGE clarinet case.
