1. A mouthpiece that suits me.
2. Good reeds
3. A fast, steady airstream
4. Maintaining even pressure around my embouchure WITHOUT pinching
5. Practising major, minor and chromatic scales in long tones, concentrating on the sound I`m producing
6. This exercise
Play a low A, then put the register key on to go to E, then take your top finger of to go to C#. Do the same for Bb, B, C, C# etc. Concentrate on keeping a full, steady tone as you change registers. Remember that all the changes in what you are doing should happen INSIDE your mouth (having your tongues a bit higher will help with the high notes, as will having a faster airstream) - you shouldn`t clamp down on the mouthpiece to get the high notes out.
Doing all this for a while should improve your sound noticably.
