I heard from a friend that when a person starts playing on the clarinet that they have the advantage of catching up on the tenor or alto saxophone after years of experience. Believe me, I play the clarinet and once i heard of this advice i tried the alto and immediately i was playing professional. However, when a saxophone player decides to play the clarinet that player will have a difficult time playing in the first two years.AND to top that all off, when i bought a new clarinet it was hell trying to "crank it up" or get it to start playing in other words because it is new you have to play with for at least two months until you are a able to play decently.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO..., my advice to you is to just stick with the tenor saxophone and atleast put aside the clarinet.
