I am using a Vandoren 2 1/2 reed and I want to buy a better mouthpiece and ligature for it.
Which vandoren mouthpiece is suitable? I saw B45 and M15, which one is better?
For ligature, is the Vandoren Optimum a good choice? If i want a darker sound, should I use BG Super revelation ligature instead?

I personally hate Vandoren mouthpieces. The ligatures are great though. I would get optimum if you are willing to pay for it, as of right now I am not, if you buy them new out of a music store they cost almost $100, look for some on ebay though.

I have only seen Vandoren mpcs run 50-60US. The ligatures about the same if memory serves. Many local stores will charge a premium amount, but a resonably priced one can be found.

I have bought the B40 and BG fabric ligature(Standard & super revelation).
But people heard that the sound produced is with more "Air" sound...
What`s my problem?
Should I use my old Yamaha 4C and BG Tradition ligature again?
Help!!

the mouthpieces run for about 50-60 dollars, but the optimum ligature is only $40 at wwbw.com. I personally use a vandoren m15 with a 4 1/2 v12 reeds and optimum lig. and am getting a great sound, very focused and dark. you might want to use a different strength reed, however, depending on your personal preferences. hope that helps.

I have recently bought a pair of 50 yr old Boosey and Hawkes Imperial 926 clarinets and wonder whether the mouthpiece with them can be improved. Any suggestions??
