I plan on taking some lessons this summer, but I just bought a cheap Buffet Crampon Clarinet and the first time a I tried it sounded fine and I looked up th escale and it was fine. That was yesterday, but today I can`t seem to keep a consistant tone. What`s going on? When I play high notes lie G or F it sounds fine, but the Low E or when my right hand comes into play at all it goes up in sound and squeeks more frequently. I also bought some new reeds. HMG 2 1/2 in case that helps. So if any one can help me here it would be great before I take it some place to get it checked over.

So it`s the right hand part of the tones that is the trouble? I would check for leaks, lose paddings for example. It`s quite easy to check if thats the problem. You just take your clarinet apart and cover all the holes and then the bottom with your hand (tight) so no air can leak down the clarinet then you blow into the part. If you can`t blow air trough it it`s fine.
